80% of the time when the brain has sustained an impact the vestibular system or the balance portion of the inner ear has also been concussed. In our diagnostic balance lab we have the appropriate tests to evaluate the inner ear for concussed patients to make sure that we're doing all that we can to treat patients in physical therapy with the appropriate treatment plan. The physical therapist needs to know if the vestibular system has been involved in your concussion because it is two different treatment paths whether or not the brain has been concussed or the brain and the vestibular system.
